Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I started circus training in my 30s, having never done dance class or gymnastics growing up. I fell so in love with hula hooping, the contagious joy it brings, the way it connects people and community, and the fact that it’s fun fitness… that I left a six-figure salary 2 years ago to commit to spreading the hoopla through my Hoop Sparx business.

Favourite thing to do on the weekend?

Erm…hula hoop! And dance, walk my dog and cook delicious and nutritious food then eat it of course!

How many times a week do you work out?

6-8 times per week. Although at least 4 of those sessions are workouts through teaching hoops. I also do circus training and pilates as well as my own flexibility and hoop training at home. Plus, going out dancing totally counts as a workout too.

We know finding the time and energy to work out regularly can be tough. What keeps you motivated?

If it’s fun, it’s less of a challenge. Everything I do to workout I absolutely love. Sometimes if I’m tired, it might be a challenge but some good music, a kick up my own butt and even just 10 minutes of physical activity always leave me feeling better than when I started. I don’t think motivation is key… it’s about taking the action no matter what.

What do you love most about your svvet workout wear?

It doesn’t move! Finding clothes to hoop in can be hard because the hoop tends to gradually shift the fabric all over the place. svvet workout gear stayed put.

What's your favourite way to treat yourself after your workout?

Coconut water and healthy food. If the workout didn’t include hula hoops, then a quick 10 minute hoop sesh.
